Right, Ive now gone LED crazy since i got LED bulbs for my interior light. Its SO much brighter - as if you are getting beamed up by a UFO every time you open the door!

What i need is the type and dimensions of the bulbs in a golf. I know its a lot to ask and i could probably just measure them tonight but im an impatient guy and if i want something, i want it yesterday as many of you will know!

The stats I need are:

Boot interior bulb

Rear passenger bulbs

Cig lighter bulb

Glovebox bulb

Tried their website but no joy. I have just called VW and asked them and the verdict was:

Passenger rears and boot are side-light bulbs (501)

Glove box is festoon (apparently)

Can anyone just pop it out and measure it for me please (and the glovebox bulb[:p]) as i wanna order the lot this morning.

Thank you!

Ok last night i found out the following:

Boot Light is a 501-type (sidelight) bulb

Glovebox (will do tomorrow)

Interior main at the front is a festoon type 39mm

Interior spots at the front are 501-type (sidelight) bulbs again

Sunvisor Lighting are festoon (same as the main interior bulb) 39mm

Rear Passenger lights i am unsure of but i think they are 233-type push in bulbs

Hope this helps.

I've ordered ?50 worth of these bulbs in LEDs incuding a Ultra wide-angle one for under the bonnet. Make so much sense to have one there instead of holding a bloody torch!

I will gather some more info tomorrow folks!

I think so, but im not the best person to ask when it comes to the finer things in electronics. Foxy would be better.

BUT, i do highly recommend getting just a festoon LED bulb for the main interior light. You'll notice the difference and be hooked! For a fiver, you cant go wrong

Ultra led's is the site to go to get your lights from, was very impressed with the quality.

The led's do have the same fitment as the bulb, eg i have a w8 interior lamp and it required 4 of the 501 type bulbs, all you do is remove the bulb from its holder and push the led in its place, the festoon ones i have replaced for the new 9 led bright blue type and the difference is awesome youve just got to get the sizes right, the 2 sizes are 31-36mm or 36-39mm length i had both sizes and they both will fit in the side interior lights providing yours isnt fitted with the alarm sensors, i dont know about the glove box light, ive done sunvisors, front doors, side interior lights and they were all festoon bulbs, the 4 w8 lights were 501 type, the bootlight is slightly different.

just check out the website.

Just been on & ordered[:D]

Interior main 9led retina burners

Interior spots 501 wide angle Led

Sunvisor Lighting 6Led

Door puddle lighting 6Led

Also ordered a set of 501 wide angle Led side light to see how they are in the headlights, the LED's I have in at the mo dont seem to give any more than a small circle of light out, look a little "Clio" owner'ish if you know what I mean[:D]

Now thinking about number plate light replacement ???[?]

Sceptic, Ive got a 3door '98 model the rear interior lights are not fitted with the alarm sensors so take a festoon bulb, i first tried a 6 led 31-36mm type which worked well and then thought about getting a set for the number plate lights so i ordered the (239) 36 -39mm Bright Blue Dome Light (9 Leds) and fitted them, not good, well if you like neons there ok but they illuminated the floor quite well, so i removed them and thought i try and fit them in the rear interior lights, fitted no problems and illuminate the interior very well, would reccommend the 9 led type, these would probably fit in the door lights aswell, depends how bright you want to go, the 6 led bulbs will still illuminate well, just depends how far you want to go.

Cheers
