Is it possible to fit all of the R32 Ali dash parts except the Side bits without buying a new cage??

I've heard the disgnostic port cover won't fit - anyone know why if this is true?

I have Normal Air Con not Climatronic at the moment and am considering just fitting all of the other bits as the W8 light I've just fitted lights up my Panasonic stereo which is silver really well!

The diagnostic cover will not fit.

I had to change the entire cage and it wasn't fun!

someone on here got a sign maker to put some of that ali sticky

back stuff on it,to save changing all cage,apparently you cant tell

difference especialy because you cant see most of it.

I don't think the fake stick on stuff would have the same texture when you touch it though?

the stick on stuff is made from very thin ali so does have texture

to it.apparently it cant do too much of a curvy surface with it

being actual metal.(he said you cant tell difference if you put the grain the same way)does the grain run top to bottom on all pieces???

Cheers for that Sem, think I'll leave it for a little while then! Got enough cuts on fingers for now! Looks damn good though when it's done, love the gearknob too. Your Interior looks really well. Are those Recaro's you have or the sport seats?

I got the ali trim from Foxy's group buy and that just clicked in and replaced the old one, I had no need for a new cage. Is it not necessay to have a new cage in every model?

I've got my cage replaced together with the alu trims last week end. It took me three hours to finish the entire dismantling and re-assembly! But it really worths quite a bit! There's enough and sufficient information on the web for this DIY, so let's try!

Fitted all of mine this weekend including the door pulls so every door panel has been off to. Loads and loads of work, also fitted my Focal componants whilst the front door panels were off. Also fitted my passenger door foxy blue alarm light, so all looks very TT alarm now but in blue on both doors.

The R32 trim is loverly, realy changed the interior and freshened it all up, worse bit I found was getting the old ashtray cover off. All nicely matches the R32 pedals and footrest too.

Bora vents next job, then some subtle blue led illumination for the footwells when the doors are open.

Here is a picture of my R32 interior trim and yes I did get a sign writer to use stuck on aluminium for the vertical strips. Nobody that I have shown has been able to tell the difference yet. does not feel plastic like as it is real aluminium.

Interesting. Just as i was thinking of ordering an allu set from Vagparts...this has put doubt in my mind.

I dont have AC at all, so not sure if this will fit.

again I used sticky backed aluminium.

The aluminium covering on the genuine part does not cover it entirely, so you do not have to worry too muh about overlapping it. Looks just as good.

All the other parts on my car (door handlesx4, ashtray cover, climate control surround, stereo surround) are genuine VAG parts.

When I did mine I didn't realise that you can change the cage.
