Fitted my cruise control kit at the weekend and had it enabled yesterday... Well impressed!

The fitting went smoothly (no exploding airbag!) mainly thanks to Foxy's excellent guide.

Am now driving everywhere and hitting the button as much as possible. It's certainly a nice feeling to get a luxury upgrade for so little outlay.

be prepared to get slightly intoxicated off on the motorway though!

you'll lose count of the number of cars who you pass, then they pass you, you pass them, they pass you... etc

another common one, you're cruised controlled at 85mph up a slight incline, closing on a car by between 5 and 10 mph, you pull out, then you are level, the incline ends, the car inside speeds up... then matches your speed... you are left high and dry

its so bloody annoying, if everybody had it we'd be fine!!

/rant over

(I do 120 motorway miles a day, btw) :)

doesn't it use more fuel? i remember clarkson driving up to scotland in an A8? and turning on cruise control used quite a bit more fuel

I'm finding it's improved my mpg being a diesel it works more efficiently at a constant speed, which is what the CC does. 2-3 mpg improvement so far.

i,m getting a bit of the green eyed monster, as i missed the two cruise control fittings up in berkshire, and too scared to handle the install myself, may have to pay someone to fit my kit in[:(].

It's early days, but i'd say the car is more economical with the cruise in use, mainly because the power delivery is so subtle, definitely moreso than it would be using the pedal. The instant readout on the fuel computer would suggest this too.
