For the first time ever since I started driving, my wee car broke down last night and I had to get the AA to come and take me home [:(].

Warning light came on for my coolant telling me to stop, temp soared up from 90 to 130 [B)] stopped the car, checked my coolant which was fine. Phoned my mate Baz who works in Bedrock Veedubs, explained to him, and he told me it sounded like my waterpump............fantastic, and at this time of year [:(]

Got it booked in for Thursday, so fingers crossed that is what it is, and they have the part and it gets fixed for Xmas.

Sorry to hear you broke down. It's really embarassing and annoying. Same thing happened to me. At least you stopped straight away. After my pump / belt were changed everything was fine. Done 12,000 miles since so no engine damage. How many miles has your motor done?

Car has only done 35K just been serviced aswell 5K ago. Been told its a common fault so not that worried really.

Was raging with the AA tho, phoned them before midnight, on the hardshoulder of the M8. Told them where I was, but they said they would need an exact location, asked me if I could see a SOS phone, which I couldn't. So then they asked me if I could see a white pole, which was blue at the top with number markings on it, which I could and gave her the number...........em sorry we can't find that on the computer, you'll need to find an SOS phone, oh and be careful [:O]

So went and found a SOS phone, and called them back and gave them that number, oh surprise they can't find that either. She told me to phone it where the police would answer and they will phone the AA with an exact location. Picked up the phone, it rang out for 10 mins with no answer [}:)] So went a little further and thankfully there was a junction sign, so phoned them at 11.57pm told them where I was, and she said Oh we'll have someone out to you before 1am. I was on my own, in the pitch black, had to sit in the car, which your not supposed to do, if I didn't I would have froze to death, it was -2 outside [V]

Guy finally turned up at 12.55, never got home till 2 o'clock this morning. It wasn't an AA truck, just a recovery, he didn't show me any ID, didn't even ask my name or any ID, hooked up my car and away. I didn't really think of that tho until I got home, was just glad I was really.

cat

Umm hate to spoil this but VW assistance = AA with grey vans! AA run VW assistance last I heard.

Glad you got home safe Donna [:)]

Also - at 39k my water pump was on the verge of explosion when I changed it!

And you why the call handler was useless don't you?

Cos they closed the Erskine Operations Centre and moved it all to one location, so no regional handlers anymore.

Oh and yeah it is the AA who deal with VW Assist, and it's the same call handler who takes an AA call as takes a VW call. Not only that you don't always get a VW livery van either, as they only have limited number of them. Chances are it will be a VW Transporter though.

[:O][:O] is your car still under warranty D????

hope it's sorted out easy enough.

Yeah thankfully its still under warranty till March 05 G, dropping the car off tonight but don't think I'll get it back before xmas.

I got Baz to phone and make sure they have the parts in stock, so its just a matter of them fixing it, and he has said to Kenny and Gooch to look out for the job, would rather have someone I know doing it lol. Besides don't want anyone else rallying about in my car, they wind me up enough in that place.

Donna,

It may just be the temp sensor?

Its not, I thought that, but I could actually hear it, and if you look at the coolant, it wasn't circulating round.

Well after last week's senerio getting towed home, dropped the car off at Verve to be fixed, but unfortunately due to the Xmas period it wasn't finished in time for them closing.

I then received a call on Tuesday morning, saying that it was the water pump and they have replaced it ok, but that I also that my gearbox mount needed replaced, thats cool its all under warranty. But there was a catch, my car was stuck up on the ramp and had been all over xmas, and they were awaiting the engineers to come to fix it. Me thinking the worse I thought they had done something to the car and was trying to cover it up, got my mate from Bedrock tho to phone them to find out it was true, the ramp electrics had gone on fire [B)]

Finally got the car back yesterday, well chuffed I've missed her lol. Never even got home and a warning light came on the dash, so turned around and headed straight back to Verve. Now been told its the timing belt tensioner that is fecked [:(] and my car won't be ready till next Wednesday at the earliest [:(]

Totally gutted, nice Xmas pressie from my wee car. So I'm driving about in a 54 1.2 Polo Twist [B)] 68bhp woooohoooo, no difference to mine lol. Only good thing about it is the colour its the anthracite grey lol [:)]
