Oh yes...who says diesels are slow off the mark!? [:p]

Last night when joining a motorway I was beside a CTR (model before last). Feck it I thought...I'll give him a go and see if he bites. [:D]

Lights go green and I get a smooth start with no spinning or wheel hop, I'm gunning it and so is he.

Just before the motorway opens up properly I'm a car ahead and what can he do??? Beeps his horn in frustration cause he couldn't get past!! I laughed so much.

Right up to just before 100 (kms or mph you make up your mind!) he was only a car behind but he was not getting past, full stop.

So all in all, evenly matched up to 100 it would seem anyway.

I was proud of my little oil burner. [:'(]

Wouldn't get to carried away mate. He more than likely left 6mm of Potenzas at the traffic lights... [:D] I'd have a go at a couple more first ...
Id have to agree with you as I have now come across four CTR's.

The first three were easy victories but I know for a fact they were trying due to a number of traffic light GP's against two of them.
The last one was a LOT closer but still another victory.
The driver in this particular instance jumped out of his car at the traffic lights and ran over asking if I was chipped, wish Id said I wasnt now!!

Don't under estimate a CTR in the right hands.

He got as good a start as I did...

Stats are like this for the model I encountered..

BHP - 185bhp at 8200rpm
Torque - 117lb ft at 7500rpm

So I have roughly the same bhp, he with more per tonne but 117lb ft Vs around 300 lb/ft?? [:D]

Those aren't the stats for a Civic Type R Irish. They have 197bhp and 147lb/ft torque.

You still have double the torque though- but I suppose all that means is that he makes the same bhp as you at twice the revs.[*-)]

Anyway- c'mon the diesels![:p]

Aaahhhh- those were never officially imported into the UK (dunno about Ireland).

If it was white it could have been a real (jap market) type R, if it was any other colour then a saddo has stuck stickers on his VTi.

Still quick though- as you found out![:D]

Sounds like thats what it was mate. Although the imports are available in black, but I doubt it was one of them, as they do 0-60 in 5.6 secs mate. Either way, you may have more torque, but your car also weighs about 300kgs more to, which WILL make a difference if it was driven properly...
