Yeah, it's a bit slower, not too much though. You can't delete all messages from all folders like you could on the 6230 and what I can't find is how to set the menu screen to display all menu options on one screen (smaller icons) rather than one icon per screen

I hadnt noticed that you could not get it to show all icons. Your right though, you cant. There is no option to delete all delivery reports at once either, you have to go through them one at a time.

Its a shame really cos the rest of the phone is great, they just took away a couple of simple yet effective options for no real reason.

Guys I recently bought a contractless 6230i back nice and cheap from Hong Kong.

I really like it but the most painfully slow thing I've found is when I 've taken a picture and decide to zoom in to it, or zoom in to any pictures on the memory card, it takes too long! Otherwise itsa great phone.

What features have you all found that are extra to a 6230? My obvious ones are -

64mb memory card as standard (i'll get a bigger one off Ebay I think!)

1.3 megapixel camera

"3-D" menus

"push to talk" - not tried this yet, anyone else?

extra button on the 'joystick'

Can anyone add to this?

Not available in the UK yet but will be coming soon. VERY popular in the states apparently.
Can you explain how this works ? The gf's dad said to me six months ago about the 6230i having ptt (he works for bt so knows about stuff months in advance) and he explained it, but it just sounds like calling someone to me ? I don't see how it's different ? Anyone got any better info or explanation ?

Was available here about 4 years ago but flopped. Dolphin
Communications marketed a 'business only' network with the feature, my
parents firm sold loads of the damn things but then Dolphin folded. It
basically allows you to
do two way radio over the mobile network - so free calls as if you were
using walkie talkies.
You press the button and it rings the other phone, they answer by
pressing and holding to talk, just like a radio - only one person can
talk at a time, its just like those Motorolla radios back in the day.

The problem with
Dolphin was you could only have two styles of phone and they looked
like 1980s walkie talkies - ugly and dated compared to the Nokia 8210s
of the time. I had one for work and it was a huge brick, very heavy. Business only too so they couldn't get enough
customers and it flopped. I believe the Police now use the old Tetra
network it was based on.

Interesting that the main providers may bring the idea back? Its a brilliant system, just needed good phones to go with it

Great information about the PTT feature on the 6230i, thanks fellas.

I don't want to repeat myself (but I will!), can anyone add to my list of new features on the 6230i? Its nice to have a new toy like this, but I don't want to find out about the features I should have been using now in 6 months time :)

Heres my list again -

Just got mine yesterday. Finally got around to swapping over all details from my V600. I'm impressed with it so far although I have to say the volume seems very low? The ring tone is high enough to be heard but by no means LOUD??? Also when playing back media files the playback volume is very low. I have 'tears for fears' stored on mine. Anyone else get this with theirs from o2? or have I received someone's that been returned already?

Yeah I've had some loudness problems.. I've used a few MP3s for ringtones on callergroups and they don't play back very loudly. I do like the phone overal, just want to make sure I get the best out of it..

Anyone found any interesting screensavers or themes? I turned the screen saver off as I wanted to be able to check the time without messing about unlocking the keypad. I've not done anything with the themes, what do they alter? The style of the menus?

BTW I also got the "Tears For Fears" MP3 on mine, my phone was contractless and in a genuine standard Nokia box, with all manuals/CD/headphone/charger etc etc, no branding by a telephone company.

Current new feature list then (as opposed to older features on 6230) -

 • Themes <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
 • Better games
 • Bigger screen/higher resolution
 • 64mb memory card as standard
 • 1.3 megapixel camera
 • "3-D" menus
 • "push to talk"
 • extra button on the 'joystick'

Does anyone have any problems with theirs "freezing"? Mine does it occasionally when the power save screen is on. It won't do anything so I have to remove the battery.

Mine was a contract upgrade on Vodafone and only came with a 32mb card. Not sure what MP3s came on it as I put the card from my 6230 in instead.

I do think it's an improvement over the 6230 though. I'll have to try the games when I get a chance.
