She's due her 60k service & Belt change anytime now, so I phoned around to get a price, OMG !! [:O]

The service & the belt change is quite a wedge isnt it [V]

Cheapest I've found is ?565... & to make it worse I need two front F1's very soon too.

Feb isnt going to be a cheap month[:(]

*********************************************************************

Updated 11th Feb

OK, had her "done" today, but im sorry to say it cost more than expected due to extra work being required.

60K Service

Cambelt

Front Brake Pads & disc

Rear Pads

N/S/F CV boot

Total cost [V] 932.00 [:O][:(]

However, its only had 2 previous services being on longlife, which cost about 350 total, so its not too bad if you spread it out in a standard service interval form.

3mm left on the front eagles though, so thats another 200quid soon[V]

Jace,

I had my belt done in october, belt, tensioner and water pump and labour, ?305.

December, I had my 60k Service (which is treated as a 20k interval apparently). ?222, but that included a small discount as my mate in the parts dept there, was standing next to the service guy as he tapped the details in [;)][:)]

305+222=527. Your quote sounds about right, i'd say

RE: Your Eagle F1's.. did you not have those fitted long ago, if I recall correctly ?

Breaks down like this :

Sevice ?220.

Belt ?345.

Thats being done at Herons in Newark (can visit family too), if i'd had it done round the corner at Brum VW I could have added another ?60 to the total bill.

I had the tyres about 12k ago, I'd say about 3k left in them now, so it may run in to march, if I leave the traction on [:I] Saying that I'd say the rears have got 10k max left in them.

Then that's a pretty good quote, imo. I doubt you'd get it much cheaper elsewhere.

Jesus man.. it wasn't that long ago you had 'em put on either, was it ? .... You do clock up the miles eh ! You wanna get out on ya bike more ! [:D]

I think since last summer (june) when I did mine, i've done about 6-8K ! [:)]

Last month I did 380 miles, in total ! [:p][:p]

cheers for that. yours is an 02 or 52 isn't it Jace?

think I read on here VW offer a discount for cars over 4 years old to encourage you to keep using them... anyone heard of this? I think it was in relation to Motor Services in Bath but not sure if its a general VW policy... (mine is a Dec '00 X reg)

[V][:(] I've done more than that since monday [:(], mind you that is only just over half a tank of the black stuff[:D]. I think at this rate, this weeks milage will add up to about 750 miles mon > sun [B)]

Just had the 60k service done on my anni at my local VW dealer - ?260 for the service and a quote of ?320 labour alone for the belt + approx ?100 for belt and tensioner [:O] ... needless to say, i got the belt done elsewhere !! - would of been near to ?700 at VW.

The difference in some quotes for teh cambelt is huge between dealers. I musta got mine for almost nothing. ?700.. madness !

EDIT for cambelt and service ! [:I][:D]

I`ve just changed the cambelt + tensioner on my 2000 bora tdi at home.It takes longer on the floor than on a 2 post lift but the parts only cost approx ?148 + VAT from local dealer. In that price and for peace of mind I also changed the water pump (?35 surcharge refunded on return of old unit) and ALL intermediate rollers and it`s a good job because one of the smaller rollers was partly seized.According to dealer these "never need changing" but mine were fubar`d and could have wrecked my engine if left.I already had the locking tools needed to time up the engine before hand so didn`t need to shell out on these.

I agree, if we all went elsewhere they would soon change their ways, what's up?, normal garage not know how?
