yea it would of been great but golfs have moved a few mk's on from the mk4does anyone else think this would have been a great extra option to have a 4wd gti from factory ?
They sort of did... In the form of the Audi S3does anyone else think this would have been a great extra option to have a 4wd gti from factory ?
very true and the s3's are deffo holding there priceThey sort of did... In the form of the Audi S3does anyone else think this would have been a great extra option to have a 4wd gti from factory ?
Thats what everyone with a 2wd golf says lolpower loss through the diff makes it pointless
you've obviously never driven an AWD 1.8Tpower loss through the diff makes it pointless
and the A3 1.8T quattro, the octavia 4x4 and the TT.They sort of did... In the form of the Audi S3does anyone else think this would have been a great extra option to have a 4wd gti from factory ?
Interesting...My mates mapped ko3s Audi A3 quattro shifts really well for the size of the turbo!
I think the thing people forget is the 4wd system is haldex, which only saps the power upon launching as its not permanent. Now I for one dont mind adding another 10% transmission losses for 3 seconds while I bury my foot at 6k rpm at the red light...Or when my wheels start to lose traction round a twisty.Interesting...My mates mapped ko3s Audi A3 quattro shifts really well for the size of the turbo!
My theory was always that a mapped 1.8T is nippy, but not rapid...thus by adding more weight and giving it a bigger transmission loss you are going to slow it down to such a stage that it does not really warrant the 4WD...![]()
However, as said, that was just my theory...and as I have never driven an a3 quattro I guess my view is 'hollow'. I would be interested in trying one...but then it comes back to the fact that to have 4WD, you have to have an A3, which I think are not as nice looking.
Dan, fancy putting a 4WD system and big turbo on my Anni![]()
