Hi

I appreciate this is a very personal choice - but am interested in the different views.....

I will shortly (Hopefully!) be ordering a new 2.0 GT TDi from a Co Car scheme, and will have a choice of 3 or 5 door (I think).

I always assumed I would go for the 3, as it would be more "sporting", but having seen some examples of both now on the road - I am not so sure.... the 5 looks to be in better proportion!!

Well - just curious on opinions [:)]

Cheers

I would go for 3. But does your job require you to carry a lot of stuff in the car, as if it does then a 5 door would probably make life a bit easier.

Not really - and I have rarely had any more than 2 doors.... Damn I must be getting old to even have to think about this !!!!

A TDI with 5 doors???

Are you going to fit a baby seat in the back, towbar and caravan and beaded seat covers then goto Fleetwood wearing your flat cap and driving gloves? lol

Only jesting because in either guise it will be sweet but personally I would go the 3 door route.

PMSL - Was it THAT obvious? The gloves will obviously be "string-backs"!

I have to say though - I haven't seen many 3 doors around.... I have only seen 1 TDi

5 every time for me. I personally don't think it makes much difference at all to the looks of the Mk4 and I prefer the practicality. I've moved house twice in the last 4 years and the extra doors have been a godsend.

There was quite a lengthy topic on 3-door v 5-door a few weeks back, I'll see if I can find it.....

I think the results were about a 50/50 split. Each to there own i'm afraid.

Personally it got be a 3dr [^]

3 is just cheap (ducks....), gives worse access to the back seats, makes it difficult to handle awkward cargo with the back seats down coz you cant get at them from the side like u can with the rear door open and it doesnt leave a whole load of unemployed bare metal on the side.

Rant ends.
