Hi all I jus bought a 2.0 gti 2000 model and am curious to know how best to get some serious bhp gains...i appreciate that the 2.0 gti doesnt have much potential for remapping etc... but any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thx.
for about ?500 you can get a air filter/catback exhaust/fuel regulator/cam & chip which will give you about an extra 25-30Bhp.
but what im am thinking of is an EIP turbo convertion and especialy with the exchange rates its quite a bargain right now.
stage one will give you about 190 = to 155 ATW & stage 2 will give you between 210-230 & 190 or their abouts ATW.
but bewarned the stage one iv been quoted on is about ?2000 fitted but if you later want stage two its about the same cos you ownly get a low compression turbo on the stage one but i managed to secure a stage 2 turbo on my stage one deal so i can upgrade cheaply later on!
the ?500 is a there or about figure but it was quoted from Tim at the Phirm
i have also looked at changing my car but with stupid quotes from the stealers & at least ?2000 to ?4000 ontop just for the same model with a different engine i decided to stay with what iv got and spend a couple of ?0000 to make my ride more personal.
Superchips and AmD are the only chips that i'm aware of and SC are in the region of ?300...well that's what mine was! I got maybe 7bhp out of that, milltek cat back was ?300, cold air intake ?180, if you can get all that for ?500, you're doing VERY well...and those gains are really optimistic in my opinion
Had a mk3 2.0 was pants !!! is a mk4 the same engine ?? if so head straight for the stealers or autotrader.......... late mk4 revo or as i test drove today at Oulton park the mk5 even in 197bhp is quick and handels well........
The 2.0 8v engine has been about for donkeys...used to be in the Audi 80 as far as i know...it's a good, steady, bulletproof engine...but it's seriously untunable!!
ok ok i maybe a little optermistic about the price & Bhp figures but i didnt mention brand names & you dont have to always go for the best!
say you go for a fitler 2Bhp/ a catback exhuast 5Bhp/ cam 10-15Bhp/Fuel regulator just to set it up 2Bhp & a chip another 5Bhp or so i cant see the problem in getting between 25-30Bhp out of a standerd 2.0 8viv done simuler with other cars.
and these are conservitive figures!
dont kill the mesenger lets find someone who's done it first!
But if it has been proven time and time again NOT to try and mod an engine WHY try ? and also the oil burners wont be happy when EU law comes in anyway......, also they are noisy and smell
