hi all.

time has come to sell my very much car.

time for a change and also could do with freeing up some cash for a couple of months.

question is... after selling the car and then selling the house i'll be looking to spend around 15K on my next car.

currently looking at...focus rs and leon cupra r. the rs is winning me over at the moment but does anyone else have any othe ideas.???

I like the Focus RS idea, I don't think it will depreciate as it was a limited run and there are so many die hard Ford RS nuts that wouldn't even consider the new ST because it's got the wrong badge (ST not RS). The RS is a modern classic and will hold it's value well. It's not really depreciated that much up to now, although you will have to like torque steer to live with one!

What about an Evo 8, there's an FQ330 on this page : http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/WWW/cars_search.asp?modelexact=1&lid=search_used_cars_full&make=MITSUBISHI&model=LANCER&variant=evo&keywords=&min_pr=14000&max_pr=16000&mileage=&agerange=&postcode=cm8+1pz&miles=60&max_records=200&source=0&photo=1&sort=3&ukcarsearch_full=SEARCH

Or maybe an Audi S3 or TT??

the RS will hold it's price pretty well as said only 4500 made and all sold.after the initial drop should be ok for few years yet.

would like some sort of back seats just incase.but as it will only be me and felix(my little boy) from now on no real need.

also like...

TT coupe.

civic R.

not keen on boxer or BMW's.

like the evo , S3 and A4 ideas.

not really looking for a car to mod would rather spend the cash on a better car to start this time.

no point looking at an indavidual car as it would be sold by the time i'm ready.

keep the ideas coming. want something with power and looks.

"not really looking for a car to mod would rather spend the cash on a better car to start this time".

Are you sure about that How much did you intend doing to your golf.

I know i got mine to stop me spending money on Mk 2's,just didnt turn out that way and probaly spent more on the Mk 4 then any car i have had.

Go with the S3 - you know what to expect with the whole VAG thing plus theres plenty backup for it.

Focus RS - modern day collectors car - but a little too collectable by
the 'wrong' kind of folk as well.... This would sway me from ownership.

if it was me .. all seriousness it would either be a mk5 gti OR more than likely a mkiv R32 with some anthracite BBS chs'

as for the RS's never depreciating look at the Mk R32 there were less
than 5000 sold.. now the mk5 gti and r32 has hit look what has
happened......

I know you maybe thinking the escort cosworth didnt depreciate ... bu t
that car never had a follow up as it happened at the end of the
supercar era its nearest rival was the subaru and that was 5 years
later.

howabout a nice Audi A3 3.2 with the S-Line kit lovely lovely car dont
just look at phots they look much better in the flesh than in mags and
on the net.

S3's are great cars, but IMO look too out of place these days, too dated looking. Id say LEON CUPRA R. Can pick up a low miler for 13K tops.

Im looking into flogging my Golf too as it seems. Im looking into the new A3 2.0TDI Sline's. Cant put a price on my golf though as its just too modded and would have to goto an entusiast.

I got my plans allready for the Audi LOL!! And it involves NO bodywork!! ;-)

Focus RS, R32, Leon R or S2000. Depends what you want i guess, but both the S3 and A3 3.2 are lifeless boring cars, very uninvolving to drive. Quick, great traction but not thrilling.

Leon R made the best of a poor chassis, looks the part, fast as standard, silly when mapped. RS a 'real' hot hatch, and very very quick.
