I planned just a reasonable session as I had a few days to myself whilst the boss was away, but I got board  , so it went a bit further than planned. To make things worse it was VW International this weekend, & although I couldnt make it, I thought, lets go the whole hog as if it was a "Show & shine" entry ( Thanks for the inspiration Dan)

Anyway, onwards. This project was done over 2 days,

The engine was also sprayed with AG Machine Cleaner & a coat of snow foam before blasting off .

This was then dabbed off the engine as much as possible, & left to dry whilst the engine was running & I got on with other areas.

Next stop was under the arches, & to really get in there I had the wheels off.

The arches were sprayed with AG MC & left to soak

One the AG MC had soaked for 5 mins I blasted it off, I then applied a coating of collinite 476 to the painted & sealant covered areas, & the plastics were treated to some PB Trim restorer. The remainding areas which I couldnt easily reach were sprayed in AG Silicone spray.

After::::

The same process was done on the rear arches too.

The wheels were sprayed with a 4/1 mix of megs wheel brightener & sponged off with a mix of Pinnicle shamppo & deironised water. Then 2 coats of Menz FMJ were applied before sealing it in with PoorBoys wheels sealant.

The inside side of the tyre was coated with Poorboys Trim restorer to complete the look. The outside face of the tyre was treated to a layer of megs #38, & left to soak in, then a coat of Poorboys Bold & bright was applied over the top

By the time all the wheels & arches had been done then engine had dried preety much, so what was left I dabbed up with some old MF's. The plastics were treated to PB trim restorer & the hard to reach areas with AG silicone spray.

Painted surface had a layer of Megs Gold Class.

The bonnet rubbers were removed & washed, & also treated to PB TR, the sound deadening was removed & the paint waxed with Megs GC, the sound deadening was hovered & replaced.

Plastics- AG Vinyl & Trim

Much respect Jace!

What do your neighbours think!? Your verging on an obsessive compulsive disorder!

That engine though, I really am lost for words. Is it safe to power wash your engine like that? I also have a 1.9TDI now and would love to get it cleaned up. I have the power washer etc and could easily put some nice cleaner in it.

Another Excellent job.

I suppose this raises the question of, how long before your using a cheap car wash to give you some more work to do ?

Essex.... I think the main reason it is ok to clean the engine like that is due to the engine being a diesel

@ Jace.... as mentioned you have done a great job.... Do you live anywhere near the Edition 38 show... as I want to bring my car round on the way there and then I can enter the show and shine [:D]

I don't mind letting you clean my car... and I won't expect you to pay me to do it....[:D]

I would add 2 things.... hang on 3 .... not bad jase but maybe next time pull the bumpers and rear lights off aswell[:p]

it is ok to jet wash any engine... just keep the water away from the ignition leads and coil pack , also keep the engin running so you can hear a misfire and stop using the water straight away.

To make the job easier of getting crud from the arches/engine..... get a long hose and attach it to the hot tap in the house then attach it to the pressure washer ........ then put the heating on.

then you have an el cheapo commercial hot water pressure washer, its amazing how much more effective it is,,, even tar spots come of. and algae etc round the rubbers comes of far more easily as the rubbers are more pliable... grease in the engine falls off even without chemicals..
i supoose the best comparison is doing the dishes in cold water... it doenst really work

(Warning this may break your washer... my ?30 B&Q is ok with it but i wont be liable for yours if you bust it)
