Does anyone know where the oil pump is located in a 1.8t engine? if anyone has a picture that would be very helpful.

Take the sump off and its right in your face.

Your going to need the VW special tool to release cam chain tensioner to remove the oil pump.

I didn't use one? Just undid the nut on the gear and pulled the gear and chain out the way. 3 bolts for oil pump and job done.

Could do it that way. I was replacing my leaky semi-lunar gasket on the tensioner so done the job together

I didnt even need any tools or remove any gears. Just unloosened tension on the chain and jiggery pokery the pump free.
