From what I've heard NOS is your only real option.

I've just gone from a 1.4S to a GTTDI 115 and the differences are far deeper than just the performenace, might seriously be worth holding out til you can get a bigger engine/better spec because you really will be throwing money away!!

I thought about this alot as i only got a 1.6, due to insurance and limited funds!

But im thinking of doin a Audi RS4 engine conversion in a few years, when old enough to afford insurance!

Mate I'm in the same dilema as you. Was thinking about a turbo kit which I was told by TSR gives 150BHP. I have decided that this is a waste of money so is a larger engine due to 80km/hr speed limits and the recent introductions of speed cameras here in Malta.

Instead I'm going to lower it sort out styling and invest in heaps of ICE. As for performance I have only put a panel filter and exhaust, it feels a bit more responsive plus the sound makes you think your going faster []

There are many considerations to tuning a car. Really depends on how your mind works.

Ok turbo chariging a 1.4 gets you to 150 brake. You insurance company will likely eat you alive, a standard GTI will eat you for breakfast still, due to the likliness of more immediate torque and larger displacement so will have a higher top speed.

So you think to yourself... its prob a better and likely a cheaper option to go for a 1.8t.

Just be happy that your saving money for your GTI when others waste money (IMO) on doing things that doesnt really get them anywhere.

well im just getting info on the 1.4 16v tuning scene and low and behold..

there ARE bits avaliable...

as its in the Lupo more and more tuning parts are becoming avaliable []

Currently i have plans of, Panel filter (im not sure what the inside of the airbox is like so may smooth it out too), Schrick Cams, Lupo 1.4 16v Sport inlet manifold, Supersprint stainless 4-1 exhaust manifold and a chip..

no idea what (if any) difference this will make but thats half the fun []

But the Lupo is 100bhp to start with so the amount of work involved for a 25bhp increas must be worth it

ive spent a bit of time on the Lupo forum and even they dont have a clue as to how to get a 75bhp to 100bhp Sport spec...

HI i,m new to the forum so don't know if im posting in the right area sorry. just bought a v reg golf 1.4 16v AHW. got the car for £500 with engine trouble. it had no oil pressure stripped it down and found a bit of cardboard in the oil pump from a faulty oil filter. great thought bargain of the century but unfortunately after a couple of weeks it's still burning oil alot. think the block is worn and needs a lot of work to sort it out. so i've found a polo 1.4 16v engine (100hp) with gearbox ecu the lot. but am unsure if this engine will go straight in with not alot of hassle i:e engine mounts wiring and gearbox. will the gearbox from the golf bolt up to the polo block? would the head from the golf fit the polo block? i know everyone will say just put a 20v in but cant afford insurance and the hassle of changing the log book. if anyone could answer any of these questions it will be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

You have posted on a 5 year old post, you should write a post in the newbie section to say hi to everyone and you will get alot more help, 1.4's do burn alot of oil though, just think of it as feeding it[Y]

Ive got a 1.4 for my first car...and made my own custom grille out of r32 mesh and filled it in around the badge...put some nice alloys on...had my dads mate fit a nice sounding exhaust to it...put a sub in, flip out dvd player screen with ipod k and n pannel filter didnt make any difference at all lol...theres my car till im 21
