    hi i think ive got too much play in gearstick,side to side free play,gonna put a new clutch and flywheel on soon and thinking of throwing a tt gear selector on while the box is out,is there any common parts to check or cable adjustment to take this freeplay out.

    its a gti turbo 1.8 agu on a 1998,cheers guys

    tt gear selector is a very cheap and very good mod

    Golf 1.9 TDI, Jamex adjustable Coilovers Front 40mm rear 35mm, fully colour coded, Bora black leather, 18" DTM Alloys, Black front badge, Sharan rear black badge, Tinted 50% front 30% Rear, Gt spoiler, Smoked crystal repeaters. Blue Hella taillights, Caractere Hatch blend, Cupra R Splitter, Audi TT short shifter, Larger injectors, Oem style 3 buttom fob.

    If you replace the clips which clip the cables onto the gear selector that will reduce the play in the gear stick.

    I fitted the TT short shifter to my car the other week, made absolutely no difference what so ever to the gear stick movement, but others have said it made a difference to them - so it might depend on the gearbox you have.
