Hi I've ordered a set of 18'' RS4 replicas for my 1.4 golf,I'm just wondering are there any performance issues to worry about with wheels that size on a standard 1.4? Thanks, any help would be much appreciated

Depends on the diameter of the tires your putting on, in general tho, you may notice slower acceleration and less mpg....but there is plenty of people out there that do this. I kept my wheels standard on my 1.4 but if I had to change it I would probably go for no more than 17's as the damn thing is under powered enough as it is lol

i have 18' RS4's on my 1.4 and yes it does slow acceleration a little but to be honest with the poxy 75BHP it has and the weight of golfs its hardley a quick mover any way, in my opinion with such low power the way it looks with them on well out ways the fact it is fractionally slower off the line

Cheers lads, much appreciated, I suppose I'll just see how it goes, I'd hardly be beating porsches off the line with or without them.

Eh! What, a diameter of 18" for instance! lol

What you actually mean, is it depends on the width (which it does) of the tyre

So the key factors are: Keep the tyre width narrow and the pressures checked regularly.
